To Viagra Or Not To Viagra–That Is The Question

Alright, all you gentlemen out there who are recreationally using Viagra–stop it now!

Unless, of course, you want to become psychologically addicted. According to a new study, men who take erectile dysfunction drugs without a physical need to do so may damage their sex lives.

Don’t get me wrong, guys. I get it. I may not have a dick, but I’ve been actress for most of my life. And what do acting and getting (and staying) hard have in common?

PERFORMANCE ANXIETY.

Lots of men (if not most) worry that they may not be hard at the right moment and they will let down to both themselves and their sexual partners.

As an actress, I also used to worry, not about erection, but about crying on cue or remembering my lines at the right times.

Dancers, writers, painters, singers all experience this to a certain extent, and instead of Viagra, many turn to drugs or alcohol to alleviate their anxiety and fear. Frequently, they become addicted. They start to believe that they cannot perform or create without that substance.

Long ago when I was in a very intense acting class with a very well known and demanding acting teacher, I remember drinking a shot of vodka for courage before I would do my scene. I became more concerned that I wouldn’t be able to act without that sip of vodka, so I never did it again. I am blessed with willpower. For those who are not, that is how addictions might start.

Now, back to you boys who think that the extra firmness you get from Viagra is so important–it’s not! Do it on your own or you will fast become a mental basket case when you suddenly find yourself without your drug and with a hot chick. Trust me, you will start to doubt yourself and your body’s innate ability to get a woody. That’s how our psyches work.

Leave the drugs for men truly need them. Like Hugh Hefner.
